This episode of Hiking Journeys takes us to the tidepools off the Makapu‘u Lighthouse trail.

While the trail to the lighthouse is paved and well-traveled, the hike to the tidepools (which begins near the top of the lighthouse trail), is unpaved and winds down a dry and rocky hillside. Hikers can wade in the larger tidepools but avoid climbing near the ocean edge as large waves can easily knock you off it. Don’t forget to bring your snorkel masks if you intend to swim the the pools. As always, check the weather and surf conditions before you go.
